SWEET! JK... Lot of people say the electronics are a big part of what makes the Evo fast. Especially in teh turns. But I say it's the cool hood vents. Ha ha..... Sorry.
lol yeah i tried switching back and forth from 3 diff settings but i could only tell difference from snow and other modes. tarmac and gravel i couldnt tell the difference. i tried to test it out last year when we had like this 2 days of snow. but the AYC(active yaw controll) only on the JDM and euro versions. suposedly to be the shit you want on your car. i think it all depends on the driver and his skills.
We don't know if the sti is gonna look like that. That's just a photoshop done by road and track. But i like it more than the evo. I'd buy it if it looked like that and it had at least 320hp.
+1 It's a R & T rendition based upon info they currently have... "The new Subaru Impreza WRX STi will likely bow later this year and go on sale in early 2008. The design ethos for the STi is one of muscularity, and we have to say that R&T's rendering look sick, in a good way." It's damn sexy if you ask me.
I still don't like it. Unless the new STi is significantly superior in performance to the EVO, I would favor the EVO.
Here are new official pictures of the evo x. Doesn't look quite as agressive as the prototype. http://jalopnik.com/cars/news/here-it-is-the-2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-255431.php
I really hate to say this also, but I really do like the design and look of the Evo X better than the Suby....I sure would love one in black... Mark
the tires are just superior jdm handling technology... they were probably still testing different tires and stuff
The author says they got a lot of good info which they used in thier interpretation of the STi. The Evo X does seem like a great car but I was thinking it would go for more like 40,000 when it comes out. It's lost it's anybody-can-afford it appeal and heritage type thing.
Well that mockup is how the "sources" claim the STi is going to look. If that's the case, maybe I'll trade up I am still waiting for mech. specs to be annouced however. I'd rock that Throw on the cusco or vlimited lip, prodrive gc05fs, s2k projectors, repainted lamps & tails and some other goodies.
It's just supposed to be a little bit lighter and more rigid... More rigid I said! But this time the STi has a little wider wheel base too. I guess it sucks if you're a WRX owner that wants to do STi conversions. Crazy stuff huh?
the tires are different because those 2 tires will be available when you buy the car. you can either go with Advans ir the dunlop all seasons. (i dont know who woud get the dunlops but...) i first that was a mistake but then i heard that it was done on purpose.
I'm the only one that thinks the new Evo is hideous looking. I'd take the new STI anyday over the Evo and I'm really impartial to the whole rivalry.
evo is hideous. especially the back and so is the new sti. i dont like the whole hatchback thing. and the front.
No, I second that emotion. It looks like a Volvo and has lost all of the agressive looks it once had...they can keep it. I'll take the STi hands down.
They are what they are yall. They don't look Ferrari's, never have, but we know they'll perform pretty damn well for the money. I mean sure they look like they suck, but that's what I first thought about the Nissan Skyline (R32). It just didn't look like an aggressive car at first, but I'm sure these cars will prove themselves in similar ways over time.
I'm totally sold on the new STI. I love the idea of having a hatch to haul stuff, but still have the power and handling of the STI. About six months ago I was thinking of doing a forester STI conversion, but this is going to be better. The other thing I wasn't crazy about before that a lot of people like is the big box wing on the outgoing STI. I did like the limited, but I was not in the right financial situation when they were around, and now they are long gone. If it looks nearly as good as the rendering, this will be my next car.
No, the best thing about the EVO is that the base lancer doesnt look like shit anymore. STi, for me, is still far better looking (subaru bias aside).
Both cars have lost their unique bodylines and now look far more mundane. But I still feel the Evo's mundane-ness is far more pleasing to the eyes than the Subaru Focus. (haha I had to)
Eh, the Mazda CX-7 looks horrible IMO. But the reviews say it's a pretty damn decent ride all things considered.
Mitsubishi must really be hurting for money... can't scroung up enough change for a matching set of tires.
what gets me about the articlis something a friend of mine and I were discussing not to long ago, there was a re-run on tv of a powerblock show he watches, in it the added royal purple to just about everything in the engine it cost around 100 dollars for it all, and they ended up getting 12.3hp, and 10.6lbs extra out of the truck, it was a stock Dodge ram 1500. What got me was a 20hp/20tq increase and a .5 second increase in the quarter- thats fucking nutz yo. Considering a optimal 06-07 sti does a 4.5 0-60 and a 13.0-13.4 1/4mile. 08 says a 4.5 0-60 and 12.5 1/4mile! Priest
Super Secret Announcement for Subaru Challenge I'd figure I would start a new thread since the orginal Subaru Challenge thread is so long now. For all of you who where not at Gainesville, here was the announcement: If you haven't signed up yet for Atlanta here's another reason; I've already secured my spot in gainesville via my really crappy driving! Randy at SOA SE tells me that this will be all expense paid trip to tear it up in a 08 STi. Rumors are flying on what the final prize will be! Some people are saying it might be like the Chevy Rev it up challenge but there has been nothing confirmed yet. SIGN UP ALREADY!!!!!!!!
That wont matter. I'm in STU with a half way prepped STU car. So, you pretty much have no chance. ooooooh... it's on! :ddirty:
