what color did you go with? Looking at your car I think bronze would go best with the white and tan theme

Hrm. I mean, I've got like 3 people saying to come see them when I need tires. My friends Nick, John, and Blake.

I ordered a Griffin Radiator today, along with an OEM A/C condenser. Hopefully now my car will stop overheating - the radiator was completely trashed.

I cleaned and repainted my roofrails yesterday, pics up soon...

And I just ordered a rear disc conversion. :D

After removing the roof rails, this is what I found. Bugs!

Stuff had actually composted into fresh soil:

    Dry-rot and mildew.

I think my car looks goofy without rails.

After scrubbing with simple green and a toothbrush:

Finished! 2 coats of primer and 4 coats of paint!

I put in the Griffin radiator and bugeye seats yesterday, pics when I get home.

    BIG UPDATE
My tachometer and speedometer are currently broken. Rather than screw around with replacing everything with more factory gauges, and changing the colors, I'm fabricating a cluster. The gauges are going to be the Autometer Cobalt series. Joseph at Autometer is helping me with all the details. The cluster will be swapped in at 200k, since their odometers roll over ever 100k and I want my mileage to still be somewhat accurate.
More details when I'm not in a hurry to leave the house.

Changed my oil today and went full synthetic, Royal Purple 10w40. WOW. What a difference.
I've started drawing up the templates for my gauge cluster, too. It's going to be an expensive project, but anyone who knows me knows that I prefer being original.
And in case I haven't mentioned it, +100000 points for Autometer's customer service.

  26. XanRules

there isn't, but I'm grabbing a stock WRX one, which can be modified to fit.

man i hope he had that thing covered up. have you researched what you gotta do to swap it

  28. Sparta

    Sparta Active Member

You might as well use the cluster thats coming with the clip too so the mileage matches your engine. Theres a mod you can do to make the KPH read MPH

  29. XanRules

    XanRules Active Member

Yep, I am. I just wish I could find that mod.

And yeah, the engine itself was covered - just a few bits and pieces weren't.
    It's plug and play.

that swap is not plug and play. you will have to get the harness merged.

  35. XanRules

    XanRules Active Member

No I won't. It has the ECU and full harness already. The cars are the same model year and chassis. The ECUs have the same pinouts. Essentially I rip out my old harness and put this one in - they're the same, with a few tiny differences.

  36. Cory

    Cory Member

Sorry they don't have the same pin outs, it doesn't matter if they are the same year and chassis, its a completly different ecu. The only way it will be a remove replace is if you are swapping to rhd. What I mean by "you will have to get the harness merged", is the chassis harness will NOT plug into the turbo ecu and the dash and other harnesses have to be merged. The engine harness will be left alone obviously.

I can't believe that I hadn't seen your journal sooner...

I want to add that I ALMOST bought this car...I had left Subaru of Gwinett after test driving this car to go think about it, and about 10 minutes down the road I decided that I was going to get it. So, I went by the bank to get out enough for the downpayment. When I got back to the dealership, Tony...the guy that XanRules bought it from, was in the middle of signing the papers.

At the time I was livid, because it was exactly what I had been looking for...but if I had gotten there in time I would have never ended up with this...and debt.

where did you get your info on that? I'm just saying that the ecu has different plugs than yours.

If he's swapping the dash, gauges, harnesses, everything then it should be plug and play. I think RHD and all

How long has that been sitting outside? Are you going to do a complete tear-down of the motor, 'cuase who knows what has gone into the manifold if it's been open and outside.

  43. Cory

    Cory Member

Are you going RHD? If so I take back everything I said. If you aren't, I don't.

If he changes the whole harness out, including ecu, shouldn't it work? Might not fit OEM but he can reroute everything underneath the dash.

Xan, swaps are a big deal. Its never as easy as you think it will be. I thought I had mine planned out but I went about $1,000 over budget, and took a couple of days longer than expected. I still owe people money for it.

Did you find out if the tranny would mate up with your rear diff?

  45. XanRules

    XanRules Active Member

Oh, well, I mean, I know a guy who knows a guy.
About a month, but it's been covered. And yeah, full tear-down.

    Nope, no RHD
Those were my thoughts on the ecu and harness.

I haven't found that out yet about the transmission, Will was a bit less than helpful:pssh:.
And yeah, I know they're intense. I think I'm mentally prepared, though. And of course I'm not saving up just the bare minimum, I left myself some wiggle room, just in case.

If you use that entire harness and ecu you'll need the dash...otherwise you'll need to redo some things
