This also came with the strakes, didnt get a chance to take a picture last night Once again, thanks So Fla :bightumb:
Day time shots, I'm really diggin these guys the more and more I see them and cant wait to slap their brother's on later this month! More importantly, what color should I paint the lamps once the retrofit is done?
Dude This is just the start, the car looks great im glad u like everything. Im glad i could help out! Wait till everyone sees what else we have planned! The rest should be on the way rather soon
Thought Id try out a paint to match the mirrors (semi-flat black); I wanted to see how it looked before all was said and I done and I committed to getting the retrofit in the housing. I dont have any on car shots, but here's a good idea of what to expect. An idea of what it would look like with the OE reflector re-installed
I also wanted a flat matte color, not the WRB.. Here are some pics of the alternate blue I chose, I think it contrasts nicely.
I would take the "or" version...not to threadjack but not feeling the contrast baby blue.. just my .02....what do I know?
me either...i like the wrb better...just an opinion but those semiflat black ones alex, are hott. i kinda like the oe reflector in there too, but either way.
Ive done a couple Saab lamps that are blacked and retain the amber, the look is actually growing on me hnoes:
black and orange has always been hott to me...back to my JDM honda days...I'd do it. If i go black i'm definitely keeping the amber.
Couple of things to report... Had an alignment done up at SOG. I should be able to finish the retrofit, or at least have everything together by the middle of next week. Will convinced me to buy the Whiteline Rear Subframe Lock Bolts. For the price, it seems like a cheap no-brainer. Also, here's a snap of the driver's side retrofit w/ the tsx projector mounted (w/o a clear lens, dont worry), e46 bixenon shrouds, prepped for primer, etc.
Once again I was thoroughly dissatisfied with the RCE springs. Maybe its me, maybe its the car, maybes it karma. Whatever you want to call it, the rear is still too low and the car is still rubbing. When I went out on course the car rubbed in the rear terribly. Okay I thought to myself, thats tolerable considering the weight in the back (2 pass. in the car); however, with the passengers gone it was still happening! This was my second event this season since my ankle healed. The previous event I had some rubbing issues but I wasnt as concerned b/c I was running a somewhat mystery alignment (hadnt had the car aligned since the recent spring install). Let me lay out the setup before anyone inquires. Wheels are 18 x 8 et48 Tires are 235 x 40 x 18 Fenders are unrolled & unpulled Rear alignment is -1.6 No, the springs are not reversed (ie front springs installed in rear) MY is 2004, upgraded to 2005 hubs/knuckles So I ask you, whats the deal here? Am I asking too much of the springs on a near stock offset wheel running tires that are similar in size as well? Of course I want to roll the fenders, I simply have not gotten around to it--I hate justifying the need to roll the rears due to a set of springs though. This concerns me as I want to throw some 245s on the stockers for the rest of season.
Ive been debating doing so; however, I am leaning towards no. It was such a hassle to actually get these springs and such a melodramatic pita to get in touch with them that Id honestly rather not deal with them again.
Weren't there some different versions of the RCE springs?? I don't recall but is Clay's car sitting as low as yours is in the rear? If not, then it'd be worth checking out.
I think so, these were the first yellow batch IIRC. I ordered like 2 months before Clay, and he received his first
I asked because they seem pretty accessibly and friendly thru IWSTI.com... I constantly see them chiming in with help and even offering there cell #'s to people for 1 on 1.. Don't really know what they can do for you other than sell you more springs but it might be worth a try...
Its a shame that SOG doesnt stock them, otherwise I'd have a pair waiting to be installed with the Konis. I guess I'll have to buy them elsewhere.
Your wheels and tires are too big for track days. I had the same issue with my OEM wheels and 235/45/17 tires. They rubbed in the back when on track and were fine as a daily. That's with the JIC struts on stiff and I even raised the back one inch and it still rubbed. It's not the springs IMO. I suggest you run OEM wheels and tires at the track and see what happens.
Well the problem remains, what if i wanted to run 245s. Regardless, Ill just roll the fenders. I'll grab a new set of tires for the stockers, they'll be the autox wheels.
If your 18" wheels are for daily duty, 245 is a waste of money. Just stay with 225 and you will be fine. Get 17's for the track and run a wider tire then.
Didnt have much of a chance to really get on the car, but I took it out to pick up some groceries earlier this evening. I must say I was somewhat skeptical about the crank pulley at first, but man, its certainly worth it (ty SoFla). I couldnt believe how much lighter this thing was versus the stocker! Idle & throttle response seem much smoother, the car ran through 2nd gear certainly quicker. Regarding the Perrin tmic (ty moose), the fit is MUCH better, near stock and appears to respond as well as the hyperflow...once again, not enough testing on the ride back home. Ill have a more firm opinion after the track event friday. No photos as I still cant find my camera, I found the lens cap though  Thanks to SkullWRX for coming over and hanging out
You should get an alternator and powersteering pulley as well. Those help just as much. Glad you didn't run into any snags with the install.
