That's a crock of crap. 2.0L's are plenty reliable. I see more 2.5L popping ringlands than 2.0L's doing anything.

then explain why so many people are blowing 2.0l's and replacing them with 2.5l in favor of a new 2.0l

its not price, could be power, but i doubt thats the only reason. read every thread of those people who know their 2.0l's are on the way out. they are all like "well i'll just wait till this blows" or "my 2.0l's on the way out so..."

you see that story a thousand times more than someone saying the same thing with 2.5l's.

and a ringland went bad in my old 2.0l causing the spun bearing (not on me but the second owner).

i think most people will agree that yours is a freak motor and an exception to the rule. even scott and doug have stated that the 2.0's are structurally weaker...

I would take a EJ207 over a 2.5 any day. My guess as to why people swap to 2.5 is partly because that it is a trend and is what everyone else is doing.

Yes there are plenty of threads about how 2.0's are on their way out, but that is definitely not the entire story. There are an almost infinite amount of factors that can lead to blowing a motor, and without taking those into account no one can blatantly say that the 2.0 is not reliable.

Then you would be alone  but believe whatever you want to believe, in the end the fact that EJ257 makes more power/torque will not be affected even slightly.

Duh. No one is arguing which motor makes more power, I was just commenting on reliability and never said that the EJ257 was not a good choice.

My 2.0 has been through hell, and I was hoping many times that it WOULD blow so i can swap in the 2.5 just because of that extra power. You guys know some of my threads :eek3: .

BUT! that bitch would just not give up. Again, I would rather have a 2.5 in there, but I disagree with 2.0 being weak motors. I have 127k right now, runing.

I forgot this is Ballt's Journal Thread. We should save our discussion for a better suited thread.

that's not a lot of miles for these cars/motors.
