LOL, You will be ready to ban us with in the first 5 minutes. How about if GA runs the kickoff back for a touch down then I get to be moderator for a month.
Quick poll: Did any of the "DAWG" fans here actually go to UGA??? You know... I'm nearly convinced that 90% (that's 9 out of 10...) of UGA fans are just rednecks that live vicariously through people that are smart enough to actually get accepted. On game days they wedge into their 4x4s and drive their hairy selves up from community college to drink $2 tube shots from the breasts of HIV positive silicon mountains, start fights with people half their size, and have sex with the random fat whores who single handedly bump the national average from the freshman 5 to the freshman 15. Not to mention that every other day of the week they buy a bunch of red stuff and be obnoxious to everyone... My favorite is when one of them yells out "go dogs!" at just the right moment to not only alert us that there is a total idiot in the room, but also point out exactly who it is. You know exactly what I'm talking about... But hey, that's just what I've noticed. If you took offense to the above then I'm not talking about you. If you thought to yourself, "hell yeah, that's me!" then rock on with your bad ass, bithcin' self! Bite a beer can for me and give the girl in your bed a Dutch Oven! How about adding a rat-tail to that bitchin' mullet?! If you just passed out and fell off your chair or couldn't read what I wrote, then, I don't care. That is all.
^^ what do you think UGA fans ask GT fans in athens? the same damn thing. not really a fair question considering the locale and median age group of 90% of the site members.... but a GT student would know that.....right? haha kidding. I actually didn't finish my application to UGA. I was wrapped up in making plans to attend the College of Charleston ( on a full ride), and never finished it. But after long deliberation my parents and i decided CofC wasn't a good idea, because if anything were to happen to that full ride there was no way we could afford the nearly $30,000 a year there. so i wound up settling on going to kennesaw state with the goal to eventually transfer. now i'm at Georgia Southern, and completely content with life. just an explanation, because i personally hate that comment as i get it all the time from seemingly bigoted and biased non-UGA fans, whome i've come to realize are all usually from and/or support teams who historically have heated rivalries with UGA and/or always get their asses kicked by UGA in one sport or another (this includes but is not limited to: UF, GT, GSU, Tenn, USC, Aub, and any other big rivals).
I'm pretty sure I've posted this before, but I wrote this last year after the game, and I just feel it needs to get posted again. My plight as a Tech fan I don't think anyone but a Tech student that lives in Georgia could really totally understand where I'm coming from on this one, but give it shot. As I'm sure you all know, Georgia Tech was once again beaten by UGA in the annual "rivalry" game (I'll explain why a quoted the word "rivalry" in a bit). I don't really want to get into the specifics of the game. But I do want to declare that Georgia Tech is inarguably the better football team this year. However, it is obvious that this seems to go out the window when it comes to this game. Now on to the "rivalry." I find the current state of the UGA Tech relationship very bothersome. To most Tech fans, the UGA game is considered one of the biggest of the year. This is not the case to most UGA fans. I would say that the majority of them consider another SEC team as their biggest rivalry. Now, simply, this sucks for us. This makes us just look like a pest to them. Can this be remedied? Of course it can. But it's going to take Georgia Tech to snap this losing streak and create a winning streak of their own. Now on to the real plight of my fan-age. I don't think the majority of people really know what it feels like to be a Georgia Tech fan from the state of Georgia. Well let me be the first to tell you, it often sucks. I don't know how exactly it happened, but somewhere along the line, Georgia Tech became the bad guy. Basically, it seems that if you or your parents didn't go to Georgia Tech, then you are a UGA fan. And let me tell you, nothing is more frustrating than being chastised by a Bulldogs fan who has absolutely no affiliation with UGA. Why does everyone in the state of Georgia (excluding Tech students and alumni) root for UGA? It seriously angers me, that to so many of my friends and acquaintances, I am a bad guy for being a Tech fan. When in reality, I have so much more of a right to be a fan of my school (that's right MY school) than they do of "theirs" (UGA). "Their" school that they have never had any connection to other than watching them play football on TV. I guess that's all I really have for now. But let me just say, if you are one of these people that I am so frustrated with, and you gloat to me about this weekend's game. I'm going to give you the same response that I've given everyone else, "Go swallow a knife."
to be completely honest, i think it has alot to do with the SAME reasons that people from the south ONLY drink coke, a completely pissed off (and often cussing) customer will vow to never shop at home depot in atlanta again and yet i'd see them the very next day spending thousands of dollars, why everyone in the country can utterly and completely disagree with every decision george bush has made regarding the iraqi war but will still support everything our troops do over there. PRIDE. people from the south have an unusual amount of pride. UGA has been around longer, and i bet you didn't know that GT was almost built in Athens when it was first chartered in 1885....?! Anyways, that's just my opinion on the subject. it will probly be the same to ANY other state you go to. the larger, more historically seeded school will get fans from all walks of life whereas the smaller schools will only have fans that graduated from, went to, or have ties to those schools.
Um, I didn't go to GT... I went to KSU for Entrepreneurship b/c it was free and I knew my undergrad was going to be useless. Plus, KSU had no obnoxious frat guys and football fans. Turns out, KSU was full of these UGA wannabies...
LOL at all the UGA generalizations and stereotypes...you guys really dont know anything about Athens and UGA, do you...
Tell you what it think is funny...my grandfather graduated from UGA in 1908 and my father from GT 1961 I did not attend either school but have always enjoyed watching tech games with my father...he would turn down the volume on the tv and listen to the plays on the radio!!! Sorry guys but I guess in my heart of hearts Im a GT Fan!!!
Athens is great for partying. UGA is a decent school. I still don't like how I'm verbally attacked by UGA bandwagon fans everytime UGA wins a game. IMO if you have no ties to a school, yet you act like you built the damn place, you're just annoying. I mean I have really good friends that fall in this category and it doesn't stop me from being their friends. But it still drives me crazy around this time of year. Now, I am going to continue my drinking and go hit some tailgates. Regardless of this games outcome, I'm going to have a good day
Who is KSU playing today? HAHA lol, it was too convenient at the time. Otherwise UGA or LSU if I still lived in the big easy. My 2 teams are LSU first and UGA second and from the looks they will not meet in the SEC championship. Did not know I had to attend a school to be a fan! *climbs into his deer stand and spits a wad of baccer on the PNG techie* LOL go DAWGS
I'm watching the TN KY game right now. Hopefully KY can pull this out and it will be a UGA LSU SEC final.
I'd be nice...FUCK TN just scored on a stupid interception. Time to start throwing bottles at the tv.
You couldn't pay me to go there...:rofl::rofl: How about you? And KSU played, NOBODY. They don't even have a football team. We actually go there to learn things other than how to do a keg stand and misspell "dogs."
like i said, they kept it closer than most people thought they would. i wasn't overly impressed with the way UGA played today. in fact, i'm pretty glad they don't have to play another game before their BCS game, cuz they haven't been playing great, just good enough to beat who they have to that particular week. and kudos to GT, that is one of the best games i've seen them play ALL YEAR (even tho it is a "rivalry game")
Sorry, that wasn't intended to be a jab or anything. Kudos to UGA on a well played game. I also think no ban is necessary, all of the UGA fans I've talked to are hurt enough by Tennessee's victory
I was at Taco Mac, UGA people made so much noise I couldn't hear jack shit, somewhat expected but still overwhelming. The word obnoxious is an understatement. Did i mention they were watching the Tennessee game? Lol. It was my first experience and it's kind of disappointing and exciting at the same time... oh well Congrats to UGA. P.S. no need to let this get ugly.
My only experience with UGA was going over to meet my brother who was working on a documetary on a band who was playing in Athens for the night. My brother's birthday was coming up so I took him to a pub to get some dinner, when we left this drunken girl grabs me a turns me around and screams "SADIE" "OH MY GOD SADIE!".... I give her the "WTF" look.... it takes her a few drunken seconds (which equals several regualr "sober" minutes) to register that I'm not Sadie.... needless to say she was drunk beyond belief at 7pm at night....
question: did anyone here actually go to the game. I had mixed feelings about what i saw on tv, i mean for one it was awesome to see as many UGA fans there as there was, but on the other hand its kinda disturbing that there seemed to be SO FEW GT fans there AT GT!?!?! i mean i have been searching for tickets all season online and it seems the easiest AND cheapest tickets i could've gotten ahold of were the UGA v. GT tickets, i'm assuming that meant there were a ton of GT fans selling theirs.....?
I noticed that as well, I honestly didn't want to go to that game because there were so many other important games going on. I think I'm going to try and go to what ever bowl game we get into to. Matt
yeah, if they go to the sugar bowl my friends and i were talking about going. not sure how i'm gonna afford it, but we'll see.
I was at the game. There were a lot of UGA fans there (there always are) but I don't think it was an overwhelming amount. That's the problem with GT's colors. Gold/yellow isn't a very strong color on camera, especially when there are so many shades floating around and people wearing jackets and such. If GT made more of an effort to get everyone to where the same color, the number of fans would be much more noticeable. GT is way to generous with the number of tickets it alots to the other schools. When we played at Notre Dame this year, they gave something like a 3rd or a 4th of what we gave them the previous year. With the GT/UGA game this year there were 3 or 4 fraternity blocks that didn't get tickets that always get tickets. Plus I had multiple friends that had trouble getting tickets who normally never do. However, the ease of you being able to buy tickets also definitely could be in part to GT fans selling their's.
