Interesting. I didn't know the GR WRX's looked similar to the STIs.
I thought the trim was more like the Impreza.

    Thoughts on the GRey Mouse

So I've been puttering around with this thing for a few months, I figured I should write something about it.

In stock form this car is hard to hate. The MY11 hatch platform feels better in the turns than the (stock) 07 STi did. Maybe I'm fucked up, but it just does. And there's simply no comparison to the (stock) 04 WRX I had. Better steering feel, better rotation, just better everything. Well almost everything, you can't really compare the WRX diff to the 'magic' (i.e. save your ass) diff of the STi.

Suspension overall feels good. For a quick daily driver it's hard to find fault. Yeah, I'm getting older, but the bowel slapping of Teins don't appeal to me anymore. Of course, KW or Ohlins would probably give the balance of sanity/insanity that would be ideal but I dunno if I'm going for that kind of money any time soon.

Acceleration is a bit boost-spikey, but so were the others before they got EM. Throttle, as with all DBW is sub-par to the old school cable-throttles. But still better than the manic-depressive 07 STi mapping. I hear they put a bigger hair-dryer on these things, along with AVCS? Not bad at all. So kinda like my old STi? It actually does feel about as quick stock-for-stock.

Brakes - This is really the only short-coming on this car. I'm used to braking later, even on the streets. I'm hoping better pads might give it more initial bite.

Mods - I'm gonna go slow with this. I've got too many other things to take care of aside from modding cars. But here's the list of possible mods.
    • Cobb AP - 299ftlb to the wheels on stage one? LOL... seriously? Sure, why not.
    • Maybe put a DP and STi IC on there too.
    • I wonder if 06-07 WRX 4pot/2pot calipers would swap over without hassel... anybody know? Prob put speed bleeders on them too.
    • Swaybars? Meh, probably to flatten it out a bit.

Beyond that, I dunno. It's just so damned enjoyable as a DD as-is.

If you're enjoying it as is, why bother modding it at all :) Spend the money elsewhere.

 and thus the insanity begins.

I really like the car man...color and all. But the EM is a must have.....stock is HORRIBLE and likely to toast a ring land.
