I know exactly how you feel. After I got Luna's UP and DP done she felt like a whole new car-truck-thing! But until I get her exhaust...*takes a moment to remember your shiny new one from the Install Day and drools a little*...I don't think she's living up to half of her full potential. Winning the lottery would solve all these little problems, but then again that means I'd have to start playing, heh.
so, i had mahdavi install my gutted UP this morning. i can feel a little difference. i'm sure it'll figure things out on it's own. they are the nicest guys! 2 things: 1) Nemesis, did they put your heat shield back in? i found mine in my trunk when i got home and don't know how to feel about that yet. 2) if i disconnect the battery for a while, will it rest the ECU? i don't have a boost gauge so i can't do the fancy 4th gear brake/hold boost thang.
really? thanks! i just called mahdavi to see if it was a fit issue. stock for stock shouldn't have an issue. unless, just thinking this now, the '05 and '03 have diffenent UP assemblies. anyone anyone...?
i called. the tech thought it was an aftermarket UP. i'm going back at 3 to have the shield put back on. i'll post if the neg/brake thing worked out for me. thanks again folks!
It sounds like they need to put the heat shield back on for you and complete the job. I haven't seen any aftermarket uppipes with disinct pn's for 05-up or 06-up. The heat shield has a purpose.
update: first, the guys at mahdavi did all the right things to make me happy. the heatshield is back on. they are just a NICE group of guys. the tech isn't a subi guy, he's more a honda guy. so he did realize it was a factory UP. not a big deal in my book. i'll be going back to them for a lot of my installs. i have total confidence in them. and they're really afforable. the neg/brake thing worked like a champ. WOW!!!! second is really fun now. i think i'm screwed, though. if one mod can make that much of a difference, I WANT MORE NOW! this is why i haven't asked for a ride in anyone else's ride, i don't want to know my car can pull like that. i do, but i don't. now who wants to sell me a use cat back? :naughty:
You have just a gutted up for mods? Do you have a downpipe and catback? 05s have some serious issues man that you might want to get taken care of.
congratZ on first mod, randy. haha I knew that you would install something sooner or later. I would say before catback set up, check out AP stage 1 as well. it will give you more whp/$$$
