ok, well newegg is sending me a new cpu. not sure of what the result of their inspection was, but the received my rma today, and a few hours later i get a new order confirmation email for the new cpu.
well i'm back up and running...for the most part. i got the cpu, and also received a new power supply that i figured i'd upgrade as well (730w), threw everything together last night before bed. xp install disc kept giving the same blue screen error. so then i think ok, maybe the disc is scratched beyond use. so then i just install a clean windows 7 copy with my upgrade disc, and it gave me no install problems surprisingly. went into bios and loaded all defaults...computer runs fine like this. however, after i went in to tweak memory, voltage, etc, this morning i got blue screens and start up restarts again. but no where near as bad as before. so i loaded the defaults again and i'm the computer as i type now. i also got this: ================================================== Dump File : 032211-32729-01.dmp Crash Time : 3/22/2011 9:23:16 AM Bug Check String : BAD_POOL_HEADER Bug Check Code : 0x00000019 Parameter 1 : 00000000`00000003 Parameter 2 : fffff8a0`026addf0 Parameter 3 : fffff8a0`0268ddf0 Parameter 4 : fffff8a0`026addf0 Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe Caused By Address : ntoskrnl.exe+70740 File Description : NT Kernel & System Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) Processor : x64 Computer Name : Full Path : C:\Windows\Minidump\032211-32729-01.dmp Processors Count : 6 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7600 Dump File Size : 285,240 ================================================== i really dont like the intergrated cpu memory controllers on the amd chips bc they're finicky. or maybe my oc skills just suck. anyway, fellas, please pray for my computer that it acts right lol
update. computer is up and running fine now with my oc set to 4ghz using all of the ram that i've collected during this endeavor lol. so thats 8gigs of ram, 4ghz 6 core cpu. sweet. since i usually get the blue screens on cold boots, i've just learned to put the computer to sleep/standyby rather than turning it off lol. ghetto fix, but meh whatever
I never turn off my PC. Longest I've had it on without restarting or anything was about a month and a half.
nice dude! its about time you get everything running.. yea the new intel chips have integrated memory controllers too. I have heard/read about people having problems with overclocking but I have not had any issues myself.
sooo...after about 1.5 months of running good...the computer is back to its old bs. i'm thinking i am going to sell the cpu and mobo and pick up an intel cpu and mobo since i had zero problem with my intel set up prior to this
if anyone has a 2gb ddram stick for a laptop laying around lmk. has to be a 2gb (not a combination of others). time to upgrade the netbook. they are only $30 (actually less) shipped from newegg, just checking if anyone has any laying around they were gonna trash. (i know a few IT guys who have memory laying around in bunches)
hmm..thats sucks man...You replaced everything in the setup. It has to be a compatibility issue. Well if you are going to intel the 2600K is a pretty impressive chip.
well i was thinking the 2500k for value and overclockability....i've read ppl getting upwards of 5ghz out of that thing. it is pretty interesting that the 2500k quadcore gets better benchmark numbers than the amd 6 core
I have the exact same MOBO and CPU with zero problems. Did you ever think to NOT OC it and see how it runs? I have mine on auto OC and have never had a BSOD. My score is a 7.4 on the windows experience and that is from my lowest score being my ATI 5850?
well now it wont even boot into windows or post at all. sweet. i dont understand how a computer could work, and then all of a sudden not work without making any hardware changes. i would be extremely pissed off at the fact that i will have to reinstall windows again, but i have to keep reminding myself windows 7 makes a copy of the windows.old install for file access. genius whoever came up with that
gotta wait for my mobo and new video card. anyone interested in purchasing a amd 6 core cpu and asus mobo that might or might not work?...at least i didnt have much success. all offers will be considered. if it was just a compatibility issue on my end, then you will score an awesome cpu and mobo for possibly cheap
well i guess the highest bidder takes it, but i dont want to turn this thread into a bidding war...so i dunno for info purposes it is an amd phenom II x6 1050t 2.8ghz and an asus m4a79xtd evo 790x
