woooooo looks like I missed out round two location: perimeter mall, afterwards we can hit up taco mac
Ok, I'm in the process of putting the finishing touches on these so I can post them. Woot! Some great shots so far! I hope mine stack up.
I know a thing or two about it, let me know if you ever want to meet up and do some shots, i know you got a great looking car.
And at last!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/clickclickwhir/sets/72157612459210379/ I'm still working on tagging and titling them all. 47 shots made the cut on my end. I do have some more individual shots of everyone's cars. If you want them, PM me. It might take me a bit to get back to you but I'll do it. Also, while Flickr is great about keeping your files relatively high res, I have the 3000 x 2000 files on my hard drive, so if you want the FULL res version of a shot let me know. Hope you like 'em! Awesome time, you guys!
pEd you had some really nice shots! I really like the ones that captured the architecture in the background. totsubo, that video was cool! The drive-by shots worked really well! And Russ! Damn! Your shots were GREAT! I love the macro shots! Particularly the one of the wheel on the red bugeye and the one of the STI front lip.
Thanks! Anytime man, just let me know. If you wanna get together sometime next weekend for a shoot just PM me or call me. 404 421 4395. And woohoo! for the pics garnering approval!
^^^hah yeah i was a little worried cause your a nikon guy, but that okay i guess, we will do a night shoot and ill show you some tricks.
Can I join? My night shots suck: http://www.totsubo.com/GTRLenox_2008-12-19/GTRLenox_2008-12-19_083_fr.jpg http://www.totsubo.com/GTRLenox_2008-12-19/GTRLenox_2008-12-19_221_fr.jpg bet you recognize the location...
Totally. Bring your car. Try a lower ISO number, a tripod (which i assume you have), and a longer shutter with a high aperture. Also invest in a remote if you don't already have one. If not use the 10s timer. Anything to avoid camera shake. For night shots I use ISO 200, and usually f8-11. Most lenses give their best sharpness there. You spend a lot of time waiting for the shutter to close but you get better shots. That second shot is pretty good though, to be honest. Do we need a general "photo tip" thread?
ah i should have rolled out, but i was busy doing something else on the hwy :coolugh: If y'all interested i can get a nice Lounge and private parking for us so we can chill in the parking lot then kick it up inside afterwards. Well keep an eye open, i just may do that , since i have access to it...why not abuse it. Any preferred days? Terry, i'll be counting on you to get GTR's out in force again. Great quality pix Russ, and by others.
dude those arent half bad, the thing you really have to worry about and get right for night shots is white balance. I usually shoot ISO between 200 and 800 depending on aperture. i also usually dont shoot high aperture due to getting a lot of flare and orbs but if there is a lot of lighting then go for it. i know in that particular deck i shoot a low F. im not familiar with nikon but learn ow to set your "custom white balance" if you can get it right i helps a lot. But in some halogen parking deck lights its hard to get it. hope that helps.
It turns out that my sister knows Chris...she said that the bug looks soooooo much better on the gold P1's. I agree!
Thanks for the tips about night shooting everyone! I may forget when the time comes. Hopefully I will not. I have a tripod, suction mount and a remote. Those shots were taken the day after I got the camera. I learned more of the settings since then. You know what they say right? "Practice, practice, practice," and, "location, location, location." The GTR guys want to do rolling shots under the Hartsfield Jackson runway. It will be a midnight run. I will be buying a new mount so that I can mount the camera lower on the vehicle. Also, looking for people with convertibles (s2000s?) so we can take some cool videos and fly-bys. The date is tentative. It all depends on which dates the most amount of R35s can attend. 50% it will happen on a Friday night (11:59 PM). If not, it will be Saturday night. If the weather is good, I will take some rolling videos and photos out on the highway and in downtown (ghost town) Atlanta. We can make this a joint event: evoatlanta s2katlanta wrxatlanta (10+ cars) nissangtrclub of atlanta (5+ cars) vwvortex atlanta (3+ cars) @ UpSideDownDesi (offtopic) how is Neil's dyno doing? I need to put it back on soon. hehehehe. I am having a part put on that should give me 10 more HP... I will start another topic on this or just send you a PM.
russ the pics look great... you really have an eye for some really clean shots... cant wait to do this again!
I hope our next photo shoot is as good as this one was.....maybe we could do another photo shoot with the Atlanta skyline as the background....got some good background with the Sports Authority but, anyway, it is all about the cars....
Oooooh. Thats^ a good idea. we should all meet up at atlantic station one night and do pics atop the parking deck there. I've gotten some sweet skyline shots from that area.
I'm down too. I'm Sorry I didn't have the car clean and am also sorry i rode out after they kicked us out of Lenox.
LOL READING PWNS YOU http://www.flickr.com/photos/clickclickwhir/sets/72157612459210379/ http://picasaweb.google.com/ThaABomb/WRXAtlantaPhotoshootJanuary11th2009?feat=directlink http://www.totsubo.com/WRXAtlantaPS_2009-01-11/
I would thank everyone personally but i'm lazy. But to everyone that took pictures, thank you, they all look amazing! I'm really glad i came out to the meet and i hope the next one is just as good. I'm definitely down for doing one at atlantic station! maybe we can all go to ikea afterward and shop for drapes and some end tables. maybe even a couch?... hmmm.
i think both yalls cars were a little dirty lol.... you can roll with me though for the rolling shots if you want....
I checked the weather for this weekend and it is going to rain both Friday and Saturday. So, no rolling shots this weekend. Will try for next weekend.
IF IT DOES NOT RAIN, the Rolling Midnight photo shoot is set for Friday night (Jan. 30th, 2009). We will begin to meet up between 10:30 PM and 11 PM in Marietta at Ege Sushi. (2100 Roswell Road, Suite f100, Marietta, GA 30062) Our route will take us down I75 into downtown Atlanta, where we can exit and continue onto the streets of Atlanta. We can get back onto I85 and continue on to the airport. After the airport we can disperse. The airport and downtown area are two key shooting locations. The airport shot will take place in the tunnel under the runway. The downtown shot will take place at street level. Originally, I wanted to shoot at the airport first, then shoot in downtown. But, I was not sure when I could get down there. However, I guarantee that I will be in Marietta at 10:30 PM. Shooting will take place on the drive down. It is best if all the cars in the group stay grouped together in different lanes, but do not block other traffic. We will select designated photo cars. If some of you know any S2000s or Miatas that could hold a photographer, please bring them.
