Its several months away. I have attended the last two events, and each year, it took till just a few months before the event to really fill up. I am registered though....
guys, remember that the same people involved in this event have supported WRXatlanta and other local subaru communities for a while now... they organize the warehouse meets... they also helped us financially with our 555 event and the upcoming scavenger hunt... come out to support them and have some fun while you are at it
The Subaru Challenge events are open to any Subaru produced vehicle (S.O.A. or FHI). No other manufacturer will be allowed to participate. no, no sabbarus =/ they dont have a calss for automatics GASP! i think thtas major handycap right there!
Unless you are driving stompy or an s2k or you are at a PCA event there is no reason to shift out of second. The wrx is almost impossible to downshift into first on an autox course anyways. A good launch might be what you are missing out on.
very true for a WRX... i autocrossed mine at various levels of modifications all the way from just a catback to when i had the super 16g... never needed to pop into third
Well I am now registered...looks like I'll be in SM though.... I guess I'll just get stomped in my first autox lol
once again, i'd like to request.... if u guys don't have a sponsor, please put down WRXatlanta.com as your sponsor
I'm in. Here's a q. www.moutons.org lists the STI in ESP, but the 2006 SCCA Rule Book lists it in BSP. Does anyone know which is correct. Of course the SCCA book would be official, but I know they do change things mid-season and I don't get the SCCA newsletters any more.
Well...I decided that the subaru challenge is a good deadline to have my exhaust sorted out and be back on COBB Stage 2. That should put me squarely in street mod. Thanks for the info regardless.
For this season, boost mods are now allowed in SP classes, so you should still be able to run your STi in BSP. -- Brian
I didn't realize SP allows ECU flash programming. ST explicitly allows it, but SP is based on Stock not ST. BSP would get me a whopping .002 PAX index advantage over SM and based on the current entry list, a guaranteed 1st in class.
EVERYBODY should be there. Please do not let ANYTHING keep you from this. RE92's, automatics, Saabarus, no money, etc, doesn't matter. BE AT THIS EVENT This is the most fun you are EVER going to have in your car, for the "net" money. The last few years the give-aways have been worth WAY more than the entry cost. I have the backpack (that was FULL of stuff), STi pen and keychain, and NICE hat that they gave away in '04 in my office if you want to see them. Last year they even had LGT's for us to beat on, I mean test drive I posted in the other one (not sure where it went) but in addition to being GREAT fun, it's really important that we show our support for our regional SOA events. For those that don't know, Randy Reinhardt, the guy who organizes the Subaru Challenge, is HUGELY supportive of all the events we have in the area. He helps with all the warehouse tours, and is spicing up the Scavenger Hunt. Seriously, October 7th, PLEASE mark this on your calendars. Whether you are BONE stock, have a GT35R, or are running on 2 spare-tires (put them on the back and REALLY have fun) you should be at this. What more could you ask; 125 fellow Subaru enthusiasts, a bunch of free stuff, free food, and a chance to slide your car around a course designed for it. SS
i am going to try to make it up for this. it sounds like lots of fun and i would hate to miss it again.... i will know in the next week or so if i can make it... edit: just to make sure i am correct on this...stage 2, a BBK, coilovers, and front and rear sways would put me in SM...right?
Okay, I want to register but I'm not sure what class I would be. 2005 Baja Turbo w/gutted up & Perrin dp, everything else stock.
yep! I was wondering why you weren't signed up for BSP when I first saw you registered. I am thinking about co-driving stephen's ride in BSP (xnoodlesx). -- Brian Nope, I believe 15.8A and 15.8C disallow them: (13.8 = stock allowances) SM for you Are those arms allowed in STU? (edit: seems STU has the same restrictions as the SP classes in this regard) -- Brian Thanks Scott for trying to get everyone out there! We need to get a bigger showing at the regular SCCA autoX events also and make this WRXatlanta competition thing work. Also, the Gainesville Subaru Challenge one is on Oct. 21st, and should be fun as it is setup on a road course. -- Brian
I have some friends in the Savannah Region SCCA. I'll ask them to make an announcement at the next soloII about this event.
thanks for clarifying that for me... need to edit my registration now i have a little more modification than u, so i believe you will be in BSP too not too sure... maybe someone who knows will chime in
The BBK would put you in SM. Here are SP rules for brakes: It would be in FSP: NOC = not otherwise classified -- Brian
That's a pisser, what about this? Even the rivits say Subaru... Can we come and watch? We are the red headed stepchildren :wtc: sniff sniff... Andy
for those of u unsure about rules, here's a link to the scca national rulebook http://www.soloatlanta.com/stuff/2006solorules.pdf
Thanks! Somehow I completely missed that immensely-useful link. =/ Though there is a FSPL class (for teh ladies) also, so does that mean I won't be going up against the rest of you guys? This will be my first event, so I really have no idea how things are run, scored, tallied, etc. I stopped by at the Subaru Challenge two years ago, but didn't participate as I didn't know about it beforehand and they weren't taking any more signups day-of. No matter how it's all done, I'm really looking forward to it! Both to test not only the car but myself, and also to see more about how SCCA events work.
If the VIN placard in the car says Fuji Heavy Industries, then the Saabarus should be allowed. You can choose to run in FSP or FSPL.
u can always run in FSPL to improve your chance of winning a prize and compare your times to similarly modded cars for fun people at these events are VERY nice and helpful and can help u get going in the right direction... plus there will be a lot of WRXatlanta members there so feel free to ask any questions u may have
Ladies class is pretty lame unless you are at a scca divisional event, scca national event or if there is money (ie kumho or mini etc). Showing up to event with only one person in it is kinda dumb, go to open class instead! Guys get upset when they are out driven by a girl, i know
I think someone missed classed their STi in the WRX street prepared class. I think the STi's are in BSP. I don't want my WRX having the same PAX as an STi. I would get destroyed against to the 2.5L. I don't know what Brian's forum name is though.
I know the classing is a little confusing, but let me assure all of you that no matter what this thing is going to be fun. Please feel free to ask on here for help with classing, or even if you don't find out, just show up and we'll help you there. Like I said before, EVERYBODY should be at this. There are ONLY 125 spots, and we should be filling MOST of them. This is like the ULTIMATE get-to-together, it's only $30, you get at least $50 worth of give-aways, free lunch, a BUNCH of Subaru enthusiasts, and we get to race SS
Jay, that ride junky. He needs to get rid of his Corolla so he can drive his own car. It's still fun watching him drift it.
