"Clearly, this is a sports car that had its development driven by feel and intuition, not lap times and lateral grip levels. "Sports cars have gotten boring," Toyota officials told us. "They're only interested in going fast." So the FR-S aims to bring speeds down but push enjoyment up. Is that really possible?"
Do you really think the Subaru version (which is known to chase performance) will weigh the same as the Scion FR-S? Can you bring speeds down and enjoyment up? Why yes....ever drive a Miata? If you do I say you are delusional.
Yes I must be... Subaru will most likely have larger brakes which means more weight. Probabably nicer interior (more weight). Hopefully Turbo or supercharger (again more weight). LArger wheels (more weight) Where as the Scion is a bare bones car... seems subaru has their work cut out and I don't think just a carbon roof will make up the difference. I for one hope Subaru delivers on this one, as I think gutted it would make a wicked track toy. But the power to weight would need to be around 8-10lbs/hp for me to consider it a long term fun track car. I have driven a miata, and unless your in a pack of cars racing at the same speeds it gets boring quick
Perhaps I should rephrase that and say diff in power to weight. If Subaru adds a turbo it'll definately have way more power and the potential will then just go up. But I don't see the STi having a turbo. The money involved engineering new pistons, tuning and all that just can't be justified.
They are not building this car for the track toy junkies. They are building this for the general public who wants a fun DD.
Exactly why I'm so interested in it, but I still have expectations that it have the potential to be 'tweaked' for more on a relatively economical budget.

Wow. Toyota ripped off the Z4 pretty well. And then gheyed it up with the Euro-esque style of the reflectors in the tail lights.
damn http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2899&d=1322426572 that wheel gap is...scary
Looks like Toyota, Subaru, BMW, Nissan, and Hyundai had an orgy and this was the outcome. And maybe Scion will be the adopting parent.

honestly though. Noticing the taillights from that. Compare it to the base vs STI concept. You just have to consider the STI concept is absurd and won't look anything like that. The lights on the STI concept are so much more aggressive looking than the base model lights, yet they put the base lights on the racecar..
i`m obviously biased but the BRZ looks so much better than the FR-S to me lol... wonder how much it will cost with all the goodies like the keyless entry and push start button
What a gay song. I wanted to hear the car and see it grip better, not slide. Also, why would the toyota get a cool horizontal pistons badge and the subaru not get one? If it was going to be on only one it should definitely be on the subaru.
According to a tweet from someone who has driven the BRZ, a 6'7" person drove the BRZ and didn't have any issues. I now seriously look forward to seeing this car and seeing if I am comfortable. The car is supposed to start at about $24000 and go up to about $27000. The top trim level was 2770lbs. Here is the guy's twitter. I think he got the brake rotor sizes wrong. Other than that it all seems right and plausible. https://twitter.com/#!/edloh
