According to this article, they don't want to turbocharge this car. http://www.topgear.com/uk/toyota/gt-86/road-test/driven
i still think it's way too easy for subaru to not to stick a turbo and sell for higher price tag considering that the new wrx shares the same engine architecture and possibly a new location for the turbo... if they announced forced induction now, the sales on the n/a version would be heavily affected imo.
exactly admitting they have plans for a turbo version would affect sales of the N/A version, this is marketed towards a very specific target audience. telling those early adopters and innovators that what they bought/are buying isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread is like telling Apple fans the iPhone 6 will come out 2 months after the iPhone 5, NO ONE would buy the 5.
I disagree. Many people like NA over turbo and vice versa. Look at the MazdaSpeed Miata. It didn't sell nearly as well as they hoped.
Well, I hope they introduce the turbo in the 2nd or 3rd year so I can snag an "early adopter" for a good price.
horrible comparison.the Miata was out for YEARS prior to the Mazdaspeed. it already had a reputation as an N/A car. and i'd argue the majority of Miata buyers AREN'T the SAME as Subaru buyers. this is something business/marketing students learn EARLY. Miata buyers (talking NEW purchasers here) are mostly older guys, younger audience only get them used. subaru buyers tend to be younger. haha, you're probably right.
again, NEW platform vs. 20yo platform. NOT the same customers..... i can and will only say it 3 times. might be designed to 'compete' with the miata, but i assure you the majority of the people who actually end up buying one of these two cars WONT be considering a Miata

Give me a black on black!. I guess conservative numbers if it covers all models. Weird the S doesnt get the same as Aero package... Will still wait to see what STi brings. Give me one with turbo and dual-clutch i'm sold. Know it wont happen .
lol at the RA model, doubt we'll see steelies as an option in the US. probably have some hubcaps on it. really digging the interior of the S models tho. not sure if i like the spoiler as much as i like the lip spoiler shown on the 'STi' version
That's what one of the guys on that board said. The RA version apparently will not be available where as the R will be the base model in the US. Edit: Does that Lightning Red, under that lighting, not look a certain slight Cherry Blossom Red?
I spy pork chops on a single plane but I bet no squirters. From what one of the local techs said, 300hp would be a reflash away on 93/94 octane. Also said the Denso DI was the kat's ass of fuel delivery.
Ewww sliding calipers. Hated them on my 02 WRX. Had to upgrade to 4/2 pot brakes. I guess this is where aftermarket guys are going to making killing on these BRZ... Looks like a lot of clearance for bigger rotors: Brakes, front 11.7-inch ventilated steel disc with 2-piston sliding calipers Brakes, rear 11.4-inch ventilated steel disc with single-piston sliding calipers If thats true then can probably go an inch more, similar to STi rotors I presume.
TopGear posted this video of two GT86's being dorifto'd http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/toyota-gt86-drifting-japan-2012-02-07
It drives nice, and the seats are very comfortable, some things are a little cheap feeling, but overall it will sell. hopefully
SoG. I started to order from SoK, but got a lot of conflicting information. They also said something about marking up the price of the car. Gwinnett guaranteed no mark up.
I got mine from SoK with no markup. What color/options did you decide on? I went with WRB and the premium. I didnt like the spoiler on the limited. Went with 6MT and added auto-dimming mirror w/homelink and the rear under diffuser.
SWP, Limited, 6speed. I added the rear diffuser as well. I want to see what the auto-dimming mirror looks like. I like the looks of the frameless mirror. The spoiler looks a lot better in person than on paper...like most every other subaru product out there. I'll end up getting a TRD lip spoiler at some point. when I can find it for sale.
I really like the TRD duckbill style spoiler for the trunk. Well I hope you get yours in may, I know I cant wait!
flebay ones will probably be just as quality (plastic is plastic). just let some other BRZ forum people's be the fitment test-pigs
