said it in an earlier post. a friend who drinks a bit too much, got his 3rd dui about 6 months ago. hit and run, leaving the scene etc. he should have gone to jail/prison for 3 to 6 months. he got 3 days in jail. this was cobb county. he got probation with drugs tests too. one year i think. there was not fix. i was told he got one of the top, if not the top dui lawyers in the area. dont know who it was. lawyer told him he was sweating bullets trying to keep him out of a long term jail sentence. it cost him money but he got off lightly. in your case, as i read it, you didnt actually race they guy, you didnt attempt to allude the cops, you werent drunk, no one was harmed, no wrecks. and 'racing' is considered less of an offense than dui. yet you got 7 days? my friend even got a week to settle his affairs and was told to report to jail on or by a certain date. out of curiosity, how did you hook up with your lawyer?
I think the judge was biased and no matter what he was going to set an example. If the judge had a nephew die as a result of street racing, that judge should not be trying these types of cases due to potential conflict of interests.
Mike buddy, I am sorry to hear all that happened. I as for your car, I would recommend contacting the towing company and make them aware of the damages. Give them a chance to make it right. If they don't you do have a case, I would talk to your lawyer (or a different lawyer, lol) about it. I do have to say you definitely got the worst case scenario, let me know if there is anything I can do....
Mike, I am sorry to hear about this fucked up situation and that you are getting out of the Suby game. I'm off Friday so I will definitely be over to help pay my respects and disassemble the beast.
Next time, try to get your county to approve the race and you might even make money off the event instead of getting jail time. http://www.accessnorthga.com/detail.php?n=227842
someone should contact the state governement and get some quotes for this. If it's within reach we should throw something together, start a georgia tradition.
Change of plans. No party on Friday. I just found out there is a zombie jesus™ cookout on Saturday and I'm going to save what is left of my liver for that. I may go to Commerce on Friday instead.
So am I correct in thinking that absolutely none of this happened? Or did it happen up until you going to court and getting off the hook?
