Alright kids, I need to do some work on my car - including the brake conversion, changing some fluids, and whatever else I find. I'd love help or for people to just come hang out. Also need some Metric sockets and jack stands :unamused: Anyone down? I'm going to start around 11am today, December 22nd.
concur...I even have all the parts you need, we just did Jeb's last weekend. However, I too am at work and won't be home until late tonight. If you can't find anybody to do the stuff today you are more than welcome to borrow my tools and jack stands. I live near the intersection of South Cobb and South Atlanta, across the street from the tag office. Plus...it's freezing outside hnoes:
Due to some setbacks I didn't get this all finished today. Still need some of the tools and some good jack stands. I'm not old enough to buy beer, but soda and snacks are on me.
I'm psuedo off for the rest of the week, but I have quite a few obligations towards the end. If nothing else, hit me up and you can grab my tools and jack stands, and I have Jeb's wrx rotors sitting in my garage.
I've got jack stands and all the tools and I'm in Marietta (Austell Rd). Like most of the folks I'm at work till 5, but send me a PM if you need anything.
when do you need the help, I am to help. just say when, I am going to visit my grand parents this weekend but all next week I am available. got tools and jackstands too.
Dante loaned me the tools, I'll be doing it this weekend, but I don't work Monday in case any of it carries over or if I just can't do it.
I'm calling this whole thing off. The brakes I got are completely rusted through to the point of being unusable. They look like they were pulled off the fucking Titanic. I got scammed. :unamused:
yeah, it was in GREAT shape. It was that +shipping, so I'm out about $100, not including what I paid for new rotors and pads.
Bummer, sorry to hear guy. Won't be needing the tools anymore, right? We ought to meet near Marietta this week so I can get them back. Let me know what could work for you, thanks,
I have rear calipers I have been trying to sell. They are off of a 2002 legacy iirc but I have been told they are exactly the same as wrx calipers. I'll let them go pretty cheap if you want to take a look at them.
yeah if you have drums in the rear you can make them fit on the stock hubs. but its a lot cheaper and alot less work just to swap out the rear hubs and parking brake assemblies.
you have to do all kinds of crazy fabbing and shimming. and also have to use some kind of spacer on the parking brake to make it work on the larger inside circumference of the new brakes. there is a thread on 2.5rs.com on it trust me when i say, its not worth it. and its probably a lot safer as well as cheaper to just swap the hubs
I'd offer to throw those in the blast cabinet and clean them up but, I don't think there would be anything left. Did you find those in a salt mine?
Couldn't hurt. And no, I had them shipped to me from New Hampshire - road salt explains SOME of the rust, but my car was in Maine for half its life and isn't anywhere CLOSE to that.
